June 8, 2021 – (Orlando, FL) : VRgluv’s CEO Chris Taylor marked the delivery of his company’s first pair of haptic gloves with a formal ceremonial presentation to Waymon Armstrong, CEO/president of Engineering & Computer Simulations, on Monday, June 7.
The gloves provide a powerful sense of touch to various virtual reality (VR) and extended reality (XR) platforms with groundbreaking haptic technologies that enable realistic touch, force feedback, and precise motion tracking. The wireless haptic gloves, not only improve the virtual reality experience but also ensure trainees have a more realistic learning experience.
ECS will be integrating the gloves into a military research program in support of the Army’s Development Command Soldier Center (DEVCOM SC) Simulation and Training Technology Center (STTC) located in Orlando, Florida.
“We’re excited to make this delivery today,” stated Taylor. “This is the culmination of a four-year journey for us. We set out with the goal of creating the world’s best wireless haptic gloves, and today that dream becomes a reality with the delivery of our first set to ECS. We are excited about what lies ahead for our team as we continue to produce our gloves, which will be used in many diverse markets and applications. We couldn’t be happier or prouder that the first set is going to our partners at ECS and can’t wait to see the incredible work they do for our Army partners.”
Bill Pike, Ph.D., Science and Technology Manager with STTC, was also in attendance for the presentation and commented on the evolution and improvements that VRgluv has achieved. “This is definitely a step in our push forward to provide the best training to our Warfighters, especially in the medical field,” Pike said. “Our goal is to see these gloves looking like what the Warfighters already wear, and these are definitely getting closer.”
Armstrong celebrated VRgluv’s first delivery. “We extend our congratulations to Chris and the VRgluv team on the delivery today, and applaud what they’ve accomplished,” he said. “We’re proud to be the first recipient and our development team is ready to put the gloves to work on our Army project. We’re grateful for the researchers at STTC that encourage and challenge entrepreneurial firms like VRgluv and ECS to continue improving the technologies that make a difference for our warfighters’ training.”
