October 17, 2023: Orlando, FL – Mick Golson, Engineering & Computer Simulations (ECS) President, is pleased to announce that an ECS training product has been selected as a finalist in the Serious Games Showcase & Challenge (SGS&C). Defense Logistics Agency-Energy (DLA-E)/Defense Energy Support Center (DESC) Capstone Exercise Simulation is one of the six finalists in the Government Audience Games category. Developed for the DLA-E, DESC Capstone Exercise Simulation is a turn-based strategy resource management game for Joint Petroleum Officers (JPO) to train and measure mission performance while performing petroleum logistics during unpredictable challenges.
Within the DESC Capstone Exercise Simulation, JPOs efficiently administer resources during a humanitarian crisis using real-world operations to ensure bases remain fueled and operational. Users deal with unpredictable challenges, such as weather delays and civil unrest, as they execute their plans. These randomized events allow JPOs to deal with different events each time and train regularly since no play-through training options are identical.
Golson says: “ECS is proud to deliver DESC Capstone Exercise Simulation to the DLA-E to support our military’s needs with engaging game-based training and to enhance training quality and retention. This tool works in conjunction with the instructional distance learning and on-site training we are also providing the DLA-E.”
SGS&C is known as the foremost setting for recognition of excellence in the field of Serious Games development. The finalists are evaluated by an esteemed panel of judges and attendees also vote for the People’s Choice winner during Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC), held in Orlando, FL, from November 27 through December 1, 2023. The SGS&C winners will be announced at an Awards Ceremony at I/ITSEC on November 30.
