December 8, 2022: Orlando, FL –Engineering & Computer Simulations (ECS) was honored with the award for the Best Virtual Reality (VR) Tactical Combat Casualty Care Simulation (TC3Sim) Application at the first Unity Government and Aerospace Customer Recognition and Awards Gala, which took place during the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) on November 28.
Utilizing Unity’s real-time development platform, ECS has developed and modernized TC3Sim, a cognitive skills game trainer used to augment military medical training in an Operational Environment. TC3Sim provides assessment of Individual Competency Tasks, critical lifesaving skills based on Medical Education and Demonstration of Individual Competence (TC 8-800), Trauma Scenario and Medical Scenario Grade Sheets (DA Forms 7742 and 7741), and Combat LifeSaver Sub Course (IS0 871B), addressing the three most preventable causes of death in the battlefield.
Shane Taber, ECS Chief Technology Officer says: “We’re very proud to be one of the firms recognized by Unity. As an innovator in virtual training for the Department of Defense, ECS has used Unity continually for over 10 years in the development of our advanced learning solutions, and we share Unity’s passion for innovation. TC3Sim is our flagship product that has helped prove the value of serious games for military training, and continues to influence future immersive training requirements for military medicine, with the ultimate goal of saving more lives on and off the battlefield.”
While TC3Sim was originally conceived over 18 years ago as part of a research and development platform, the upgraded version has transitioned to become a part of the existing program of instruction for the U.S. Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training, and Instrumentation (PEO STRI) and in support of the U.S. Army’s Synthetic Training Environment (STE). It will be used for continuing research and development at the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Soldier Center (CCDC SC) SFC Paul Ray Smith Simulation and Training Technology Center (STTC).
Unity is a world-leading platform that allows companies to build real-time 3D projects for various industries across games, animation, automotive, architecture and more.
