Games and Simulations: Design and Development
ECS has extensive experience working with commercial game engines, middleware and industry standard development tools to build engaging and interactive 3D applications. Our computing solutions maintain cohesion between network management and security needs, as well as other software and hardware systems. ECS engineers have experience in client-server architectures that reduce network traffic while improving multi-user updates. Standard industry practices such as dead reckoning, localized event handling and asset interpolation are used to optimize network traffic and enhance the capabilities of distributed computing.
ECS uses state-of-the-art commercial gaming technologies to provide 3D games and simulations that interactively navigate individuals and teams through a series of principles or training objectives. Our solutions provide a deliberate focus on training objectives by immersing participants within realistic scenarios, with cues and conditions set up to support critical decisions and planned sequences of task performance dependent on the goals of a training objective. Within the context of the simulation, training objectives and performance measures are simply a listing of actions performed within the simulation that are required to complete each objective. The game or simulation raises events as the user interacts with the environment or with other users. An assessment module listens to these events and uses them to track a learner’s progress towards successful completion of defined tasks. This information is then communicated to the Learning Management System.
Interactive 3D Training Technologies
Our expertise in interactive systems development is based on almost a decade of experience in creating cutting-edge technical solutions for the simulation and training industry. Technology and courseware recently developed by ECS for the US military combines distributed simulations with the constructivist principles of coaching and scaffolding and the behaviorist technique of deliberate practice to help enhance student motivation towards learning tasks. This approach places the learner in a “real-world” environment, which allows the student to learn in context and apply what they have learned. It is this contextual experience of knowledge acquisition in an authentic environment that facilitates the learner to create their own constructs that can be applied to new unfamiliar situations.
Simulations and Systems Engineering
ECS applies systems engineering processes to produce complete solutions for modeling, simulation and training problems. Through the effective application of innovative technologies and common processes and systems, ECS is honing a sharper edge for future competition. We offer an established and comprehensive infrastructure designed to efficiently deliver mid to large-scale software solutions and have delivered comprehensive software solutions for a variety of industries and domains. We pride ourselves on taking full accountability for every solution we develop, integrate or deliver by providing complete life cycle support, including all product maintenance activities. This approach makes quality the lead inspiration at ECS, allowing us to guarantee the lowest total cost of ownership of any competing software product or solution in our market.
Modeling and Simulation
ECS is a multi-disciplinary modeling, simulation and visualization company that has provided products and services to the Military and Commercial markets for nearly a decade. We offer an established and comprehensive infrastructure designed to efficiently deliver complex, large scale models and simulations that represent environments and objects either statically or over time for the purpose of analysis for decision makers, training for operators or acquisition for future systems development. ECS employs a mix of artists and engineers to provide products and services using the latest software architectures, programming tools, 3D modeling tools and behavior based animation techniques to realistically depict the relationship between entities and components within a simulation. ECS has also developed complex, large scale models and simulations for a range of government clients including the FAA, NASA, the Port Authority of NY/NJ, and the Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport.
